Honoring Tradition

Every year, Italy holds its Mille Miglia race throughout the peninsula to honor classic cars. Spectators turn out all over the country to catch a look at Italy’s history and pride, demonstrated through its fine motor vehicles. This idea got us thinking- why not take a moment to pay homage to the fine dressed men of yesterday that have paved the way for class and elegance in fashion today?

The first one on everyone’s list, Steve McQueen was as renowned for his love of speed as he was for style. Persol glasses still recall his stylish appeal.

Cary Grant

Sure he had dashing good looks, but his propensity to wear a sack suit so well also helped him game notoriety!

Al Capone

Al Capone

Not often an obvious choice, but did you know he was famous for his polka dot suits? At the height of his power, he was as famed for his extravagant style as he was for his ruthless nature!

Humphrey Bogart

He may have been a little man, but he certainly had big style! Fedoras may have been mainstream accessories in the 40’s and 50’s, but today, it’s hard to think of the eponymous hat without picturing Bogart!

Paul Newman

It doesn’t get much more American in style than Paul Newman. He made white tees and military A1 jackets the classics of Americana style that they are today!
