In the dog days of summer, you’re not thinking about much more than staying cool and sipping a Gin and Tonic, but before you know it, the cool nights and even cooler mornings of September sneak upon you. Just because school’s back in session doesn’t mean that you have to push all your summer items to the back of your closet- hold off until the leaves are on the ground at least, and until then, make good use of these must have transitional wardrobe pieces.
Cable Knit Sweaters
Whether in cotton or cashmere, cable knit sweaters can be tied around your shoulders (we prefer over your shoulders as opposed to around your waist) as a fashion accessory, one perfectly well timed in case the weather takes a turn for the cool. Opt for classic neutrals, like cream, heather grey or navy.
Cargo Jackets
A standby in summer can work well in the brisk days of fall before you transition over to a heavier, longer wool coat. Ensure that the jacket is well fitted-oversize, faded or ripped should be tossed aside in favor of a sleeker version.
Linen Trousers
Eschew the flip flops and sandals, and linen pants (when well starched and ironed) can easily be fit into your daily fall wardrobe. Opt for the more structured pairs as opposed to the drawstring waist style so that you can transition from weekend to the office without a hitch!
